Supporting the finance and payroll processes as well as assisting the Finance Management, Accountants and Business Units on day to day and month end basis and supporting Audit requirements.

The position will offer the opportunity to develop with involvement in business unit reporting, supporting forecasting and budgeting as well as opportunity to help improve processes and controls. Specific responsibilities for processes would include VAT, Duty, Fixed Assets, Leases and AP/AR Master controls.

We are looking for someone with long term aspirations to develop and progress in their career at Darchem. In addition, we require the successful candidate to be Chartered Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or working towards attaining Chartered qualification status.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Support Accountants month end accounts including assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journal postings, data compilation and analysis
  • Support Accountants with Internal and External Audit, Forecasts and Budgeting and other reporting requirements
  • Support the Business units with internal reporting, Forecast, Budgeting and other adhoc exercises.
  • Provide support to payroll team specifically for reporting and audit requirements
  • Producing VAT and Duty returns and associated reporting and reconciliations in line with our UK tax controls
  • Manage Fixed Assets and Capex Processing and reconciliations
  • Manage Lease information and month end reporting
  • Maintain Customer Master Files including credit approvals
  • Maintain Supplier Master Files and new supplier requests
  • Coding and monitoring employee expenses and credit card spend
  • Any other similar duties, as deemed appropriate in line with the scope, spirit and purpose of the role


  • Previous experience at a similar level of Accountant/Assistant Accountant role
  • Good understanding of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet Reporting
  • Previous experience gained in a manufacturing/engineering/construction environment advantageous
  • Previous experience working in an international business would be desirable
  • Proven experience of working within a team and improving processes and best practice
  • Experience working in a business with strict internal controls
