Summary

As a Metrology Technician you will measure manufactured product with a variety of measuring instruments including first principles and advanced principles. Appropriate training will be made available within your role through the potential of internal and formal courses.

Your main responsibilities as a Metrology Technician will involve:

  • Performing daily measurements on manufactured product using portable coordinate measuring machines (PCMM)
  • Perform daily measurements on manufactured product using a bridge coordinate measuring machine
  • Use of first principle measuring instruments
  • Be able to follow procedures for quality, health & safety and business processes
  • Communication with production staff and engineers to aid continuous improvement
  • Support the development of metrological procedures

Experience and qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant experience and/or a suitable qualification (NPL Level 2, HNC)
  • Use of first principle measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauge etc.)
  • Operational use of PCMM’s including laser scanning
  • Operational use of a CMM
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding of measurement systems analysis
  • Experience in use of modern IT systems including Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Aerospace background
  • Experience in use of Polyworks Metrology Suite
  • Programming CNC CMM and PCMM measurement programmes
  • Awareness of quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025)
