Summary

Plan & direct activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes and process improvement, materials, products and establish quantitive measurements and technqiues for measuring quality. Responsible for the day to day implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the QMS system.  Develop policy, procedure and methods for process control and improvement.

Work with the BU’s to promote and implement continuous improvement of our product, processes and Quality Management System (QMS) for both the Stillington and Gloucester facilities, whilst ensuring adherence to both regulatory and customer requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Support BU’s with New Products Introduction and Advanced Product Quality
  • Support BU’s in investigation and resolution of quality issues
  • Non conformace investigation, route cause analysis and reporting
  • Lead ISO9001 and AS9100 RevC and other 3rd party approval activities
  • Host internal, customer and 3rd Party ausits for special processes and other specific approvals.
  • Monitor change in customer specifications ensuring process owners implement change when required
  • Maintain a good working relationship with our customers ensuring any actions are responded to in a timely manner
  • Assist in the training and Development of all staff in QMS
  • Travel off site to client or suppliers as and when required
  • Any other similar requirements as requested
  • Promote and introduce continuous improvement within the QMS and part of a smal team responsible for Day to Day management of the system
  • Reporting of the QMS performance and internal Key Performance Criteria to ensure strategic targets are being met
  • Introduce quality improvements within the business and with key suppliers to achieve “right first time” standards
  • Develops and maintains documented procedures which not only adhere to the regulatory / international standard requirements but promote continuous improvement and cost reduction in our business processes
  • Facilitates teams to ensure continuous improvement within the Quality system to reduce costs associated with quality
  • Completes quality system audits both internally and at supplier premises to ensure both compliance to system requirements and to identify area’s for improvement and cost reduction
  • Provides and co ordinates training were necessary for all employees in aspects of quality assurance eg, procedural training, audit training, use of corrective action database, tools and techniques for quality improvement
  • Communicates continuous improvement performance of the QMS through regular quality meetings with the business units and written reports
  • Conduct specific QMS projects as directed by the Head of Compliance

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar quality role ideally 3 years in an Aerospace or Automotive environment
  • Competent with managing timescales

Skills

  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge AS9100 / ISO 9001 and other QA accreditations
  • Auditing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT literacy, familiarity Microsoft programmes including Microsoft Project, and other project based software
  • Able to work as part of a team to tight deadlines and targets

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant Engineering discipline preferred, or qualified by experience
  • Technical HNC/ONC Qualified preferred
