Summary
Manages the new business development and tendering activity for the Business Unit. Supporting senior level relationships with new customers, existing accounts, agents and licencees. Directly reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Sales Manager will also have direct responsibility for the performance of the BU Sales Team.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Develop and execute high-profit focused growth plans to assure that the business meets its new business development targets, with regular on-time reporting on progress and forecasting expectation.
• Responsible for ensuring order input and profitability meets the targets set by the Business Unit, including accountability for the BU P&L performance of accounts.
• Coordinate with the BU Manager to develop medium term new business forecast plans.
• Manage the BU Sales Team and ensure business development activity is aligned to the BU strategy.
• Manage the day-to-day performance of the BU Sales Team ensuring company procedures and guidance is followed for quotations, RFQ’s, Time & Territory planning etc.
• Set and maintain, pricing strategies to all customers to ensure profitability in line with BU plan targets.
• Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate goals of the BU, and overall business.
• Support preparation of comprehensive bid packages, including financial models for internal review and the subsequent customer proposal coordinating activities with supporting functions as required.
• Direct individual sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
• Represent company at trade association meetings to promote the BU’s product
• Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with BU Sales Team.
• Meet with key clients, assisting BU Sales Team with developing relationships and winning business.
• Review customer contracts and negotiate terms in adherence with business commercial policy.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly sales reports showing bookings, live opportunities, potential projects, areas of proposed client base expansion and BU Sales Team activity.
• Manage CRM Database ensuring data and activity is accurately represented by the BU Sales Team.
• Provide customer insights and market information to direct product research and development, working closely with Design Engineers and BU Manager.
• Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
• Any other similar requirements/duties as required.

Business Development Managers, Sales Engineers & Technical Bids Manager (~5-7 FTE)
Experience
- Proven sales background at a Management/Senior level.
- Experience of high value project sales within a relevant industrial sector (Naval Marine or Civil Nuclear).
- Experience of project bidding and contract negotiation with project values between 1-20 million.
- Detailed understanding of CRM systems, sales forecasting and target driven delivery.
Skills
- Strong IT literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office packages essential

Qualifications
Educated to diploma or degree level (preferred), or qualified by relevant sector based sales experience.
